2023 FIBA World Cup Kicks Off with Early Wins for Team US, Italy, Spain

After a lot of anticipation, the 2023 FIBA World Cup is finally in full swing! The highly-anticipated basketball tournament kicked off on August 25, and the first two days delivered several spectacular matches, with the US, Italy, and Spain scoring wins in their early matches. August 25 brought two tense face-offs in Group A, with Italy beating Angola 81-67 and the Dominican Republic coming up victorious against the Philippines 87-81. Montenegro and Lithuania won in Group D, Australia and Germany were among the early winners of Group E, while Latavia and Canada demolished the competition in Group H. August 26 was just as eventful, and it saw some of the favorites for the title hit the court. Puerto Rico and Serbia won in Group B, Greece and the United States topped Group C, Georgia and Slovenia proved their worth in Group F, while Brazil and the defending champions Spain knocked us off our feet in Group G. The 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup is being hosted by the Philippines, Japan, and Indonesia, and it’s taking place from August 25 to September 10. Many of the biggest NBA stars announced their absence before the tournament kicked off, including Serbia’s Nikola Jokic, Greece’s Giannis Antetokounmpo, and Canada’s Jamal Murray.
