2023 Women's World Cup: Sweden Demolish Italy to Make It To Last 16

Sweden has been on top of their game since the start of the Women's World Cup, and their latest match was one for the books. In a display of sheer power, they demolished Italy to score an easy 5-0 win and make it to the last 16. Italy stood their ground to Sweden for the majority of the first half, but all hell broke loose after Amanda Ilestedt scored the first goal 39 minutes into the game. She netted another goal in the second half and helped Sweden win 5-0, along with Fridolina Rolfo, Stina Blacksteniu, and Rebecka Blomqvist. Italy remains second in Group G rankings following this loss, but the team’s manager Milena Bertolini admitted they’ll have to improve their game to defeat South Africa in their next match and ensure a spot in the knockout stage. "For the first half an hour we gave them a hard time, we tried to fight them but didn't succeed. We were a bit fragile mentally because after conceding the first two goals we were not able to stay calm. We need to work on our mental strength,” said Bertolini. Sweden will face Argentina in their next match, but they’ve already made it to the last 16 with one game to spare.
