Aaron Rodgers Returning to Practice 11 Weeks After Surgery

Aaron Rodgers’s first season with the New York Jets fell apart after he sustained an injury in September, but things are finally looking up. The veteran quarterback is returning to practice 11 weeks after undergoing surgery, but it’s still highly unlikely we’ll see him play this season. After spending his entire NFL career with the Green Bay Packers, the four-time NFL MVP joined the Jets earlier this year, but his time with this team was short-lived. He suffered a major left ankle injury on his debut against the Buffalo Bills in September and was placed on injured reserve after being diagnosed with an Achilles tendon rupture. Eleven weeks after undergoing surgery on his torn Achilles tendon, Rodgers is officially returning to practice. The Jets now have 21 days to either activate Rodgers from injured reserve or bench him for the rest of the season. The Jets’ head coach Robert Saleh believes Rodgers will be out for the year due to his injury, but he praised his commitment to the team and dedication to a swift recovery. "This isn't so much getting ready to play as much as it is a progression in his rehab. There's no added risk to it. There are certain things that he's been cleared that we are going to allow him to do. Aaron is not going to do anything to put himself in harm's way," Saleh told reporters.
