All-NBA Teams Announced, Giannis, Jokic, Doncic Named to First Team

The 2021-22 NBA season is slowly reaching its final stage, and the league finally announced its All-NBA teams. Milwaukee Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo, Dallas Mavericks guard Luka Doncic, and Denver Nuggets center Nikola Jokic are among the players who were named to the first team. Antetokounmpo, Doncic, and Jokic were joined by Phoenix Suns guard Devin Booker and Boston Celtics forward Jayson Tatum, who’ve also been selected to the 2021-22 Kia All-NBA First Team. Antetokounmpo was the absolute leader, receiving a total of 500 points, closely followed by Doncic and Jokic with 476 each. All-NBA teams were voted by a global panel of 100 members, responsible for choosing two guards, two forwards, and one center for the First, Second, and Third Teams. Players receive five points for a first-team vote, three points for a second-team vote, and one point for a third-team vote, with the players being ranked based on the highest point totals at their respective positions. This year’s first-team choices received some backlash due to exclusion of Philadelphia 76ers' Joel Embiid, who made it to the second team despite receiving more points than Jayson Tatum because he was listed as a center. He was one of the candidates for the MVP title this year but eventually lost to Nikola Jokic.
