Australia Wins Rugby League World Cup with a Confident Win Against Samoa

After a lot of anticipation, the Rugby League World Cup returned to England this fall, and its final match was pretty unforgettable for Australia. They won their twelfth title in this tournament with a confident win against Samoa on Saturday. Australia came into the match as a clear favorite, and Samoa simply didn’t stand a chance against them. They scored an easy 30-10 win, largely thanks to the amazing performance from Latrell Mitchell and James Tedesco. Since they entered the tournament with 11 titles under their belt, expectations were high for the Australian team. Their coach Mal Meninga said they’re not burdened by these expectations, and he believes this victory is just the beginning for his team. "The expectation is that we win tournaments, so it's not a burden to us. We carry that with great humility and respect and we understand that. Our most ardent supporters don't want us to win, but we accept that and we get on with business,” said Meninga post-match. The 2021 Rugby League World Cup was held in England between October 15 and November 19. In addition to winning the Men's Rugby League World Cup, Australia also won the Women's Rugby League World Cup, defeating New Zealand to collect their third trophy.
