Ben Simmons Breaks Silence on His Trade to Brooklyn Nets

The Philadelphia 76ers spent months looking for a way to trade Ben Simmons after his refusal to join the team despite hefty fines. They finally managed to strike a deal with the Brooklyn Nets, and Simmons had a thing or two to say about his blockbuster trade. Simmons broke six-month-long silence at a recent press conference, where he discussed his status and what he brings to the Nets. He admitted it’s going to be scary to be rubbing shoulders with the greats, including Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving, but he’s ready to rise to the challenge. “I think it’s going to be scary. Having those guys run alongside me, multiple different weapons on the floor and I think at the pace we want to play at, it’s going to be unreal,” said Simmons. He briefly addressed his departure from the 76ers, saying his holdout from the team had nothing to do with other players or coaches, adding it was about “getting to a place where I need to be”. Simmons was sent to Brooklyn as a part of a trade package that included Andre Drummond, Seth Curry, and two future first-round picks. They were traded for Paul Millsap and the former MVP James Harden.
