Blachowicz Facing Ankalaev at UFC 282 After Prochazka Vacates the Title

Jiri Prochazka was supposed to defend his light heavyweight title at UFC 282, but his plans changed due to a severe shoulder injury. Former champion Jan Blachowicz is set to fight Magomed Ankalaev for gold after Prochazka announced his decision to vacate the title. In a lengthy statement announcing his withdrawal, Prochazka explained that he injured his shoulder while training for his title defense. The injury is pretty severe, and he’s required to undertake surgery that will put him out of action for at least six months. Prochazka apologized to the fans who made bought the tickets and made plans to come to Las Vegas to support him but promised he’ll be back soon. “I will go for the UFC belt as soon as the doctors give me the green light to fight. It's always been the most important thing for me to put on the best performance and compare myself to the best… I'll be back in six months and I'll take the title whoever holds it,” Prochazka wrote in a statement. UFC 282 will take place on December 10, at the T-Mobile Arena in Paradise, Nevada, and the fight between Jan Blachowicz and Magomed Ankalaev will serve as the main event.
