Boston Bruins Beat Washington Capitals to Set NHL Season Points Record

The Boston Bruins have been on fire since the start of this NHL season, and their latest victory was one for the history books. They managed to defeat the Washington Capitals 5-2 on Tuesday night, setting a new NHL record for most points scored in a regular season. The Bruins owe their latest victory to Brad Marchand, Tyler Bertuzzi, Tomas Nosek, Garnet Hathaway, and Jake DeBrusk, who managed to score a goal each on Tuesday. By doing so, they brought their points total this season to 133, breaking the record of 132 held by the 1976-77 Montreal Canadiens. To make the whole thing even more impressive, they reached this milestone only a few days after setting the new NHL record for most wins in a single season with their 63rd victory over the Philadelphia Flyers on Sunday. Brad Marchand, the alternate captain for the Boston Bruins, is proud of their latest accomplishment, but he thinks it’s still too early to celebrate because they have a long way to go before lifting the Stanley Cup trophy. “We're happy about it, don't get me wrong. But it's a regular-season record. Playoffs start and everything starts over again. There's going to be 16 teams that have the same goal in mind and what we've accomplished so far has no bearing on that,” said Marchand.
