Boston Celtics Stun Philadelphia 76ers to Secure Last Spot in Conference Finals

Despite having this season’s MVP on their team, the Philadelphia 76ers were eliminated from the playoffs in the semi-finals. Boston Celtics destroyed the Sixers in Game 7 on Sunday and secured the last available spot in the conference finals. Jayson Tatum was the shiniest star of Game 7, and his performance was largely responsible for Boston’s big triumph. He erupted for 51 points, 10 rebounds, and five assists, leading his side to a dominant 112-88 victory. He had great support from Jaylen Brown, who poured in another 25 points, and Malcolm Brogdon, who contributed 12 points off the bench. This loss was very disappointing for the Sixers fans, and many felt like Joel Embiid didn’t play like an MVP when it mattered the most. He didn’t help soften the blow with his comments in post-game interviews, some of which were largely taken out of context. "I can’t win alone. Me and James [Harden], we just can’t win alone. That’s why basketball is played five-on-five. We just need everybody to try to keep finding ways to get better, and we’ll be fine," he said during a post-game press conference. Boston Celtics are now set to face Miami Heat in the Eastern Conference finals for the third time in the last four seasons, while Los Angeles Lakers will try to defeat Denver Nuggets on their quest to win the Western Conference crown.
