Caleb Williams Selected by Chicago Bears as First Overall Pick in NFL Draft

Caleb Williams came into this year’s NFL draft as one of the biggest prospects, and he lived up to the hype. After being locked into the no. 1 spot for the entire draft process, the USC quarterback has been selected as the first overall pick by the Chicago Bears. The 22-year-old quarterback kicked off his college career at Oklahoma in 2021 and established himself as a starting quarterback. His star kept rising in 2022, when he transferred to USC and quickly rose through the ranks, becoming a team captain by summer. Williams’ became a main candidate for the first overall pick in the NFL draft following a successful college career. He won the Heisman Trophy in 2022 for the most outstanding player in college football, before joining the Bears as the franchise quarterback they’ve long been searching for. Williams addressed the reporters in a Zoom call following the draft and said he was happy to join the Bears because they’re a team committed to winning. “A big reason is I believe the culture that's been building. I would say the culture, the coaches, and that's where it stems from. Then I'd also say the love and support that the fans have been giving. They're ready, they're hungry, they're all excited, and so are we,” said Williams.
