Carlos Alcaraz & Iga Swiatek Win Their Second Title at Indian Wells

This year’s Indian Wells was pretty memorable, especially for Carlos Alcaraz and Iga Swiatek. Alcaraz defeated Daniil Medvedev to defend his Indian Wells title, while Swiatek scored a dominant victory over Maria Sakkari to lift her second trophy at Indian Wells. Alcaraz and Medvedev gave us a repeat of last year’s final, and the outcome was pretty much the same. The 20-year-old Spaniard scored a straight-set win of 7-6 (7-5) 6-1 against his Russian rival to claim his first title since Wimbledon last summer. Alcaraz admitted he wasn’t feeling his best before the tournament due to his ankle injury, and he’s happy with the way things turned out. “I love playing here - it's so special for me… There were a lot of doubts but I'm really happy to overcome the problems. We did really good work off the court to try to recover as best I can,” Alcaraz told Sky Sports. As for Swiatek, she easily cruised past Maria Sakkari to clinch her second Indian Wells title, beating her 6-4 6-0 in 69 minutes. Just like the rematch between Alcaraz and Medvedev, the match in the women’s singles final marks the repeat of the 2022 Indian Wells face-off between Swiatek and Sakkari, which produced an almost identical result.
