Carlos Alcaraz & Jannik Sinner Withdraw From Italian Open

The Italian Open will soon return to Rome, but it will be missing several top seeds when it comes back. World no. 2 Jannik Sinner announced his withdrawal from his home tournament, which will also mark the absence of world no. 3 Carlos Alcaraz. 2024 has been a pretty fantastic year for Sinner, who kicked it off by winning his very first Grand Slam at the Australian Open. He went on to win two more titles in Rotterdam and Miami but recently pulled out of the Madrid Open ahead of the quarter-finals due to a hip injury. Sinner now announces he’ll also miss the Italian Open after consulting the specialists and coming to the conclusion he’ll have to take more time off to recover. "Obviously, I'm very sad that I didn't recover, it being one of my favorite tournaments ever. I couldn't wait to come back and play at home in front of the Italian crowd… Now I will work with my team and doctors to be ready for Roland Garros," he wrote on social media. Sinner won’t be the only major player missing the Italian Open this year. Carlos Alcaraz also decided to withdraw after injuring his right forearm, saying he needs to rest so he could recover and play the French Open 100% pain-free.
