Carlos Correa Signs $315 Million Blockbuster Deal with New York Mets

The MLB offseason is in the full swing, and it’s given us a few pretty epic deals, but none of them is wilder than the one signed by Carlos Correa. Only a week after he reportedly joined the San Francisco Giants, Correa is set to sign a new deal with the New York Mets worth $315 million. After opting out of his contract with the Minnesota Twins to become a free agent, Correa became one of the most sought-after shortstops in the MLB. Several teams had an eye on him, but Correa eventually decided to sign a 12-year deal with the Mets, reportedly worth $315 million. This sum is pretty mind-blowing, but that’s not even the most shocking part of the deal. His signing with the Mets comes only a week after he was set to join the San Francisco Giants for an even more impressive sum of $350 million before the deal fell through. His switch to the Mets left MLB fans scratching their heads, but there’s a perfectly reasonable explanation behind it. According to the Giants' president of baseball operations Farhan Zaidi, Correa’s deal was put on hold after the physical. He was cleared by the doctors, but there was a difference of opinion over the results of his physical examination.
