Carlos Correa's Offseason Drama Ends with $200 Million Deal with Minnesota Twins

Carlos Correa has been linked to everyone from the San Francisco Giants to the New York Mets in the past few weeks, but his free-agency drama is finally coming to an end. He’s officially staying with the Minnesota Twins after signing a reported $200 million deal. There have been a lot of rumors flying around about Correa’s future prospects during the offseason, as he had several lucrative contracts fizzle out. Correa’s ankle injury, which has been following him since 2014, was responsible for the fallout of his previous deals. In mid-December, he agreed to a 13-year contract worth $350 million with the Giants, but the deal fell through just hours before he was supposed to be introduced as their player. Shortly after that, he struck a 12-year contract worth $315 million with the Mets, but they’ve also raised concerns about his ankle during physical. All that drama is now behind him, and he’s rejoining the Twins after signing a six-year deal reportedly worth $200 million. The deal has a vesting option, and its total value can go to $270 million over ten years. The two-time All-Star described his offseason as “an emotional roller coaster”, but added he’s trying to focus on the things that he can control. “I was not stressing over it too much just for the simple fact I could not control their decisions and what some of the doctors said. What I can control is preparing my body every single day to compete every single day, show up every single day to help my team win,” said Correa.
