Caroline Garcia Beats Aryna Sabalenka to Win 2022 WTA Tour Finals

This year’s WTA Tour Finals brought many surprises our way, and the final match was one wild rollercoaster. Caroline Garcia claimed the biggest victory of her career so far after defeating Aryna Sabalenka in straight sets to win the title. Garcia didn’t come into the tournament as one of the favorites, but her track record was pretty impressive. She defeated Coco Gauff and Daria Kasatkina to make it to the same finals, where she defeated Maria Sakkari to secure the spot in the finals. Aryna Sabalenka defeated the tournament’s top seed, Iga Swiatek, on her way to the finals, but she couldn’t stand her ground to Garcia. The face-off between the two ended pretty quickly, with the French player scoring a 7-6 6-4 win against the Belarusian. "It was a great match. I really went for it. A crazy final, a lot of intensity on every point. Just really proud of the work we did throughout the year. I'm really happy to win my biggest title," said Garcia after the match. Garcia ranks as world no. 4 following this victory, the highest ranking of her career so far. She’s the first French female player to win the season-ending WTA Tour Finals since Amélie Mauresmo in 2005.
