Croatia, France & United States Among 2023 Davis Cup Finalists

The qualifying round of this year’s Davis Cup took place over the weekend and gave us many spectacular matches. This portion of the competition determined which teams will face in the finals, with Croatia, France, and the United States making the cut. Croatia is currently the top seed in the team rankings and they secured their spot in the finals with a dramatic 3-1 win against Austria. Borna Coric helped his country secure a place in the finals after defeating former world no. 3 Dominic Thiem 7-6(3) 6-2 in under two hours. “It was not easy, but I knew that this is Davis Cup, and this is tennis, and that anything can happen. I was ready after the doubles match. I was pretty nervous, but I had time to prepare myself for the match. I came out on the court and I was playing great tennis today," said Coric post-match. The list of seeded teams will also include France, the United States, Switzerland, Great Britain, Serbia, Chile, South Korea, Sweden, the Netherlands, Finland, and the Czech Republic. Australia and Canada are also through to the finals as the title-holder and runner-up of the last year’s Davis Cup, in addition to two wild card teams – Italy and Spain.
