Darren Waller Signs Historic $51 Million Extension with Las Vegas Raiders

Darren Waller has been with the Las Vegas Raiders since 2018, and he’s not going anywhere anytime soon. He signed a three-year extension with his current team, reportedly worth an impressive $51 million, becoming the highest-paid tight end in the NFL. The Raiders and Waller spent much of the offseason discussing his future and eventually came to a deal that works for both sides. Waller's agent Drew Rosenhaus said the deal was very challenging because it’s a rarity for a 30-year-old player with two years left on his contract to get a new deal. The tricky thing about Waller’s old deal was that he had no guaranteed money remaining, and was set to earn $7 million in each of the next two seasons. His new deal locks him up through the 2026 season and makes him the highest-paid tight end in the league. Raiders coach Josh McDaniels confirmed his return in an official statement and described him as an exemplary teammate in every way. "Darren brings a tremendous commitment and work ethic to the building every day and we couldn't be more thrilled that he will be a part of the Raiders Family for years to come… We're excited to see him continue to grow as a leader on this team,” said McDaniels.
