David Pastrnak Signs $90 Million Extension with Boston Bruins

David Pastrnak has been playing with the Boston Bruins since the very start of his NHL career, and he’s not leaving Boston anytime soon. The Czech ice hockey right winger signed an eight-year extension with the Bruins, reportedly worth $90 million. Pastrnak’s current contract has paid him $6.67 million annually since 2017-18, but that number will now go up to $11.25 million per season. He was due to hit unrestricted free agency this summer but eventually managed to find a common ground with the Bruins and signed a deal that makes him NHL’s sixth-highest-paid player right now. Pastrnak spent most of the season negotiating his new contract, but he didn’t let that distract him from the game. He told reporters, “I didn’t really worry about it much. Especially when I get to the rink and when playing. It was off my mind.” After the deal was finalized, the 26-year-old said that he was honored and happy to stay with the Bruins, adding that he can't wait to get to work. Pastrnak repeatedly made it clear that he wants to stay in Boston because he got the chance to become the player he is today in this city. Pastrnak was originally drafted by the Bruins back in 2014, and he ranks second in the NHL this season with 42 goals and fourth with 80 points.
