De'Andre Hunter Signs $95 Million Extension with Atlanta Hawks

De'Andre Hunter has been with the Atlanta Hawks since the very start of his professional NBA career, and he’s not going anywhere. The 24-year-old forward signed a four-year extension with his current team, worth $95 million. Hunter’s new deal comes with $90 million guaranteed with up to $5 million in possible incentives. ESPN’s Bobby Marks reports that it starts at $20.09 million and increases each season, with $1.25 in unlikely bonuses per season. Hunter is happy to call Atlanta his home for the next four years, and he can fully focus on winning games after signing his new contract, in the hope he could lead the Hawks to the championship. “I’m just grateful, thankful that they gave me the opportunity, that they have so much faith in me as a player, just trying to work my b—t off and do what I need to do to become a better player for the team,” said Hunter, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Hunter joined the Atlanta Hawks in 2019, after playing college basketball for the Virginia Cavaliers. He was taken as the 4th overall pick by the Los Angeles Lakers but was eventually traded to the Hawks. He averaged 13.4 points and 3.3 rebounds per game last season but failed to help the team reach the playoffs.
