Dexter Lawrence Signs $90 Million Extension with New York Giants

Dexter Lawrence has been with the New York Giants since the very start of his NFL career, and his future with this team is looking bright. The 25-year-old defensive tackle will stick around in the Big Apple after signing a four-year extension with the Giants, reportedly worth $90 million. Lawrence was set to play the next season on the fifth-year option on his rookie contract, set at $12.4 million. He skipped the voluntary start of the Giants' offseason program due to the contract disagreement, but the team was determined to address his contract as early as possible. General manager Joe Schoen addressed Lawrence’s future earlier this year and said they’re committed to keeping him on the roster in the long run. “Dexter’s great. Leader, great player, did a good job for us this year so he’s definitely somebody we will talk to, and we’d like to have him here for a long time” said Schoen. Lawrence joined the New York Giants in 2019 and averaged 213 tackles and 16.5 sacks in 64 career games. His new deal is worth $90 million, with $60 million fully guaranteed, and this makes him the third-highest-paid defensive tackle in the NFL behind Aaron Donald and Jeffery Simmons.
