Duane Brown Signs $22 Million Deal with New York Jets

Five-time Pro-Bowler Duane Brown is turning 37 later this month, but he won’t be retiring anytime soon. The NFL offensive tackle signed a two-year deal with the New York Jets, reportedly worth $22 million. Brown joined the Seattle Seahawks in 2017 and started all 70 contests in his five years with the team. They kept him under contract through the 2021 season, but he eventually decided to shift sides after the Jets came knocking. They recruited him as a replacement for Mekhi Becton after he suffered a potentially season-ending knee injury. Duane Brown is pushing 37 now, and NFL experts have been wondering if he’s considering retirement for quite some time, but he made it clear he’s here to stay for as long as he can. “I feel like I’m still playing at a high level, and I want to continue to do that here… I didn’t want to walk away from this game then, I don’t want to walk away from it after this year. I feel better this year than I did last year. So that’s been my thought process,” Brown told Seattle Times last year. Brown kicked off his NFL career with the Houston Texans in 2008 and stayed there for ten seasons before joining the Seahawks and the Jets.
