FIFA Club World Cup Draw: Man City Could Face Al-Ittihad in Final

The FIFA Club World Cup draw took place in Jeddah on Tuesday, and we already know who could face in the tournament’s final match. Manchester City could come head-to-head with Karim Benzema’s Al-Ittihad in the final, taking place in Saudi Arabia this December. The 2023 FIFA Club World Cup will return to Jeddah between December 12-22, marking the first time this tournament took place in Saudi Arabia. Real Madrid are the defending champions, but they won’t be able to compete after suffering a crushing loss in the UEFA Champions League semi-finals to the eventual winners Manchester City. The tournament will kick off on December 12, with a match between Saudi Arabian champion Al-Ittihad and Auckland City, the champion of Oceania. The winner of this match will eventually face African champion Al Ahly of Egypt and fight for a place in the semi-finals against the champion of South America. Man City won’t get to play their first match until December 19 since they secured a direct entry to the semi-finals. They’ll meet either Club Leon of Mexico or Urawa Red Diamonds of Japan, and the door is open for their potential face-off with Al-Ittihad in the final. The 2023 FIFA Club World Cup will mark the last seven-team edition of this tournament before the Club World Cup switches to a 32-team format in 2025.
