Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor Plotting a Rematch for 2023

The 2017 fight between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Conor McGregor was billed as the biggest fight in combat sports history, and it seems they’re finally ready for another showdown. Mayweather recently revealed he’s getting ready to face McGregor in the ring again in 2023. The undefeated retired boxer dropped this bombshell while discussing his next moves ahead of an exhibition fight with Japanese mixed martial artist Mikuru Asakura this weekend. “We don't know if it's going to be an exhibition or a real fight. But there's been talks of both. I would prefer an exhibition. I am not into fights where I am going to take any real punishment,” Mayweather told The Daily Mail. He didn’t miss a chance to throw some shade at McGregor, saying that he doesn’t mind facing “guys that don't really hit hard such as YouTubers or UFC guys”, but he doesn’t want to put himself in a position where he could be harmed. Mayweather is fighting Mikuru Asakura on September 25 in Japan, in his fourth exhibition fight since announcing his retirement. His next exhibition bout is already set for November 13, when he’s fighting YouTuber Deji. As for Conor McGregor, he faced Dustin Poirier in his last fight at the UFC 264 last year and ended up losing.
