Formula 1 Bosses Plotting New Female Racing Category

Some major innovations seem to be coming to Formula 1 in the nearby future – including a brand-new new women's racing category. The newly introduced all-female championship is being developed, in the hopes it would open up a pathway for female drivers. F1 representatives are yet to share details about this innovation, and they simply said they’re “committed to ensuring the best possible opportunities for women to get into our sport and to get the skills and experience necessary to get to the top of F1." The new championship would run alongside W Series, which faced many financial difficulties and canceled several events earlier this season. The new series could launch as early as next year, and it would be aimed at drivers above the age of 16, most likely featuring 12-15 drivers on the grid. This announcement comes shortly after the seven-time champion Lewis Hamilton addressed the issue, saying there’s not enough emphasis on female drivers and that FIA should do more to support them. "There is not enough representation across the board in our industry and there is not really a pathway for those young amazing drivers to get to F1… We need to be doing more. With F1 and Liberty doing so well, it is not a lot for them to help out in that space," stated Hamilton.
