France Beats Morocco to Secure Place in World Cup Final Against Argentina

After several roller-coaster weeks at the 2022 World Cup, we finally know who’s going to play in the final match. France emerged as the winner in the semi-final against Morocco on Wednesday, and they’re set to face Argentina in Sunday night’s final. Morocco came into the match as a clear underdog – and also the first African and Arab team to reach this stage of the competition. Despite their best efforts, they couldn’t stand their ground to France, who defeated them 2-0. An early goal by Theo Hernandez five minutes into the game cemented France’s domination, and Morocco couldn’t recover from that. Randal Kolo Muani sealed their fate and gave France a confident 2-0 lead in the second half. Despite their semi-final loss, Morocco coach Walid Regragui praised his players for pulling out the stops and giving everything against France, adding it’s quite an achievement they made it this far. "My players gave a very good image of the team, a showcase of their quality. It is difficult to take, they wanted to rewrite history books. You can't win a World Cup by miracles, only by hard work - and that is what we will keep doing," said Regragui. The World Cup 2022 final will be played between Argentina and France on December 18, while Morocco will face Croatia in the third place play-off one day earlier.
