Germany Defeats France to Make it to UEFA Women's Euro 2022 Final

The 2022 UEFA European Women's Football Championship has been in the full swing this month, but it’s slowly nearing its final stage. Germany made it to the tournament’s final after defeating France, and they’ll play England for the title on Sunday. The first 40 minutes of the game were pretty uneventful, but Alexandra Popp turned things around and gave Germany an advantage with her opening goal. They lost the lead just four minutes later but managed to make a comeback in the second half when Popp scored again, netting her sixth goal of the tournament. She tied with England's Beth Mead as the tournament’s joint leading scorer. Germany's coach Martina Voss-Tecklenburg said that she feels pure pride for this achievement and for all of the players, adding it was a terrific team effort to contain the French side. "We have worked so hard and have become such a tight-knit bunch who support each other on the field. We totally deserved to win… It worked out in the end but it was super-exciting and super-exhausting,” said Voss-Tecklenburg post-game. England secured their spot in the final after defeating Sweden 4-0, and they’ll have home advantage against Germany. The UEFA Women's Euro 2022 final is taking place at London’s Wembley Stadium this Sunday.
