Hubert Hurkacz Beats Andrey Rublev to Win Shanghai Masters

Many top tennis players stumbled at this year’s Shanghai Masters, but Hubert Hurkacz and Andrey Rublev eventually managed to make it to the final. The face-off between the two was pretty tense, but the Polish player eventually came out victorious, winning his second Masters title. Hurkacz defeated Rublev 6-3 3-6 7-6 (8-6), and the deciding tie-break was pretty tense. After a lot of back and forth, things will eventually work out in Hurkacz’s favor, and he managed to save the final match point and win the whole thing. Hurkacz won his second Masters title and his seventh overall in Shanghai and managed to return to no. 11 in the ATP rankings following his victory. His triumph is even more impressive given the fact that Rublev didn’t drop a single set on his way to the final. Hurkacz felt quite emotional following his victory and praised his opponent for giving it his all in the last set. “Andrey was playing some great shots. I was trying to respond. It was one of those matches and I kept believing and I am super happy with how I managed at the end. It is such a big tournament and so much tradition. It is a huge event and I am really happy now,” said Hurkacz post-match.
