Harden’s decision opened the doors for the Sixers to improve their roster, bringing veteran P.J. Tucker on board, and striking a deal with a guard De'Anthony Melton in a draft-day trade. Before striking his new deal, Harden said he’ll do whatever it takes to stay in Philadelphia because he believes that the team has what it takes to fight for the championship. “Obviously, it doesn’t happen overnight, but I think just here being around guys, they have the right mindset… They have something great already going on, I’m just here to contribute, and I know I can do that very well,” he said after joining the team. James Harden was traded to the Sixers from the Brooklyn Nets back in February, in a blockbuster deal that involved Ben Simmons.
