Jarred Vanderbilt Signs $48 Million Extension with Los Angeles Lakers

Jarred Vanderbilt joined the Los Angeles Lakers earlier this year, and his future with this team is looking bright! The 24-year-old forward signed a four-year extension with the Lakers, reportedly worth $48 million with a player option in the fourth year. Vanderbilt joined the Lakers in February this year, as a part of a three-team deal that involved his former teams Minnesota Timberwolves and Utah Jazz. It didn’t take him long to make his debut in LA and he averaged 7.2 points, 6.7 rebounds, 1.6 assists, and 1.2 steals in 26 regular-season games with the Lakers. Even before signing his extension, Vanderbilt made it clear he was happy to be playing for an NBA team with a strong fan base across the globe. “The recognition was a lot different for me, coming from a ‘smaller market’ going to one of the largest markets in sports, so I definitely don’t take it for granted. It’s a blessing to play on the highest stage at the highest level and it’s been a great experience so far,” he explained. Vanderbilt was initially picked by the Denver Nuggets in the second round of the 2018 NBA draft, but his first few years in the NBA have been pretty rocky. He was loaned to several teams before being traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves and Utah Jazz, but he eventually found his footing with the Lakers.
