Jeffery Simmons Signs $94 Million Extension with Tennessee Titans

Jeffery Simmons has been with the Tennessee Titans since the start of his career, and he’s here to stay. The 25-year-old defensive tackle has signed a four-year extension with his current team, reportedly worth $94 million. Simmons’ new deal reportedly comes with $66 million in guarantees, including a $24 million signing bonus. This is quite an improvement since he’s set to play under the fifth-year option with a $10.75-million cap hit. Seeing Simmons extend his deal with Tennessee isn’t a huge surprise since he made it clear he wants to stay with the Titans. He also praised the team’s new general manager Ran Carthon and said that his outlook on the future is more positive after their meeting. “One thousand percent he’s a great hire. The time we talked, and I sat down in his office, it was unbelievable. He’s an unbelievable guy. I can’t say nothing bad about him. My first impression was out the window,” said Simmons, per Jim Wyatt of Titans Online. Simmons has been drafted by the Titans with the 19th pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, after playing college football at Mississippi State. His new deal makes him the second-highest-paid defensive tackle in the NFL, only behind Aaron Donald.
