Joel Embiid Beats Nikola Jokic To Make All-NBA First Team Selection

The All-NBA teams have been unveiled, and Nikola Jokic once again had to take the backseat to Joel Embiid. After being crowned as MVP over Jokic, Embiid now edged him out of a first-team selection at the center spot, to be named to the All-NBA first team alongside Jayson Tatum and Giannis Antetokounmpo. Milwaukee Bucks’ Antetokounmpo made it to All-NBA first team for the fifth straight time, while Boston Celtics’ Tatum joined him as a first-team forward for the second consecutive year. Oklahoma City’s guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander was the most unexpected member of the All-NBA first team, and the only first-timer, while Luka Doncic of the Dallas Mavericks took the fifth spot. Denver Nuggets' Nikola Jokic has been relegated to the second unit this time around, but he’s in pretty good company. All-NBA second-team selection also includes Miami’s Jimmy Butler and Boston’s Jaylen Brown at forward, plus Golden State’s Stephen Curry and Cleveland’s Donovan Mitchell at guard. Los Angeles Lakers’ LeBron James made his record 19th All-NBA appearance on the third team, as the only player in the league to ever make over 15 All-NBA selections. He got the forward spot alongside New York’s Julius Randle, and they were joined by Sacramento’s De’Aaron Fox, Portland’s Damian Lillard, and Sacramento’s Domantas Sabonis.
