Kyler Murray Inks $230.5 Million Extension with Arizona Cardinals

There was a lot of drama surrounding Kyler Murray’s future with the Arizona Cardinals, but they finally managed to find common ground. The 24-year-old quarterback signed a five-year extension with his current team, reportedly worth $230.5 million. According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Murray’s new deal includes $160 million guaranteed. His $46.1-million average annual salary is now the second highest in the NFL, but he won’t get it all at once. Murray is set to receive $30 million in the first year, $69 million over two years, and $106.2 million after three years. Despite all the drama surrounding his deal, Murray didn’t discuss it publicly and let his agent Erik Burkhardt do it instead. He released a lengthy statement, saying that Murray absolutely wants to be the Cardinal’s long-term quarterback and lead them to a Super Bowl victory. “Achieving goals will take incredible commitment from himself and the entire organization… Kyler remains hopeful that the organization chooses to commit so that he can continue leading the Cardinals to further success and value for many years to come,” said Burkhardt. Kyler Murray joined the Cardinals as the first overall pick in the 2019 draft. He went on to set several Cardinals franchise rookie quarterback records and was named the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year.
