Kylian Mbappe Sets Major Record in PSG’s Trashing of Lille

Paris St-Germain never had any trouble defeating Lille, but their latest face-off was especially humiliating for their rival club. PSG thrashed Lille 7-1 after Kylian Mbappe kicked off the game with a record-breaking goal just eight seconds later. Mbappe’s opener was one for the books because it equals the 30-year-old record held by Michel Rio’s strike for Caen against Cannes in 1992. This was just a start of an epic night for Mbappe, who finished the game with a total of three goals for PSG. He wasn’t the only player responsible for the team’s brilliant performance on Sunday. Neymar was right behind with two goals for PSG, followed by Lionel Messi and Achraf Hakimi with two each. “It’s a real satisfaction to see them happy on the field, playing for each other. Obviously, there is talent, and when this talent comes together, it makes for a very enjoyable match,” said PSG coach Christophe Galtier after the match. Despite Mbappe’s amazing performance in Sunday’s match against Lille, the French player came into the game on the heels of another controversy. He recently came under fire for claiming that South American international football was a level behind Europe, sparking rumors there’s bad blood between him and his teammates Lionel Messi and Neymar.
