Leon Edwards Beats Kamaru Usman to Retain UFC Welterweight Title

There was a lot of anticipation leading up to the latest face-off between Leon Edwards and Kamaru Usman at the UFC 286. Edwards managed to pull a spectacular win in their third match-up, beating Usman by a majority decision to retain UFC welterweight title. This fight marked a rematch from their UFC 278 face-off last summer, which also resulted in Edwards’ win. He pulled somewhat of a miracle to upset Usman in their previous fight, but he didn’t struggle as much the third time around and defeated Usman via majority decision (48-46, 48-46, 47-47). Leg kicks and body kicks were largely responsible for Edwards’ latest success, but he praised Usman’s defensive strategy. "He didn't get any takedowns and I was defending multiple of his shots. I want to say thank you to him, he's been a great competitor. I was trying to get the head kick, but fair play to him because he had a perfect defense," said Edwards post-fight. Usman also had nothing but words of praise for his opponent, saying he hopes to see him again after he put “a hell of a gameplan.” Edwards and Usman first met in 2015, when Usman managed to come out victorious, but Edwards dominated him in their next two rematches.
