Lewis Hamilton Overcomes Penalties to Win Brazilian Grand Prix

Odds weren’t in Lewis Hamilton’s favor at the Brazilian Grand Prix, but that didn’t stop it from giving it his all on the race track. Despite an early penalty that put him in a disadvantageous position, the British racer was crowned as the winner of the Brazilian Grand Prix. Hamilton managed to recover from a shocking disqualification on Friday due to a technical infraction with his DRS system, which left him dropped to the back of the grid. He battled from 20th to the fifth spot, before receiving another penalty for an engine change in Saturday's sprint. After these setbacks, Hamilton kicked off Sunday's race from the 10th spot and pulled off an impressive comeback. He managed to overtake championship leader Max Verstappen in the late stages of the rage and scored the third Brazilian Grand Prix win of his career. Following the race, Hamilton acknowledged this has been one of the craziest weekends of his career, and it comes after a year that has been plagued with difficulties that his team had to overcome. “Coming here 19 points behind, we really needed a solid result but then we had all these penalties… Mentally, you could think it's over, it's impossible. But nothing is impossible if you put your mind to it. That's why we cultivated a positive mental attitude and went in fighting, guns blazing," said Hamilton.
