Liverpool Reaches Champions League Final After Defeating Villarreal

Liverpool is set to play in the Champions League final after defeating Villarreal on Tuesday night, but things could’ve easily gone the other way around. The Reds made an epic comeback after a disastrous first half, defeating their opponents 3-2. Villarreal proved their domination just three minutes into the game, when Boulaye Dia scored the first goal for their side. Francis Coquelin cemented their lead and put Villarreal two goals ahead of Liverpool before the second half. The Reds’ manager Jurgen Klopp did everything in his power to force the change during the interval, advising players on how to deal with Villarreal’s strong lead. “We didn't play in the right spaces and all of a sudden we were just kicking long balls and trying to force it… We explained to the boys what we had to do to get stronger and move smarter. In the first half we didn't move enough and couldn't find the half-spaces in midfield,” said Klopp. His advice worked magic, and Liverpool somehow managed to make a tremendous comeback in the second half. Fabinho, Luis Diaz, and Sadio Mane scored three goals, leading the Reds past Villarreal and straight to the Champions League final. They’ll either face Manchester City or Real Madrid at the Stade de France in Paris on May 28.
