Liverpool Top Premier League Table After Beating Burnley

Liverpool spent the entire season fighting for the top spot in the Premier League rankings, and they’ve finally reached this goal. The Reds are back on top after scoring an epic victory against relegation-threatened Burnley thanks to Darwin Nunez and Diogo Jota. Tuesday night’s match was pretty memorable for Nunez, who finally ended his goal drought after failing to score in his 12 previous outings with the Reds. He finally returned to form against Burnley and gave Liverpool an early lead six minutes into the game. They eventually scored a 2-0 win, after Diogo Jota netted a late goal in the final minute. Liverpool’s manager Jurgen Klopp said it feels fantastic to finally top the Premier League rankings, but added he’s fully aware that their top rivals are still “in punching distance”. "To be top in the Premier League, you have to have top players… You play against the top sides and what is really apparent in this league is that every team at the top has a different style or idea behind it. Liverpool have different strengths to Tottenham or Arsenal or City,” said Klopp. Liverpool replaces Arsenal atop the Premier League table, with a two-point advantage. Aston Villa is right behind with 39 points, followed by the struggling Manchester City and Tottenham.
