Manchester United Beats Brighton to Set Up Manchester Derby in FA Cup Final

Manchester United’s FA Cup semi-finals match with Brighton culminated in a dramatic penalty shootout, but they managed to come out victorious. Following this win, United will face Man City in the next stage of the tournament, setting the very first Manchester derby for the FA Cup final. The face-off between United and Brighton ended with a goalless draw, and the winner was eventually decided in a tense penalty shootout. Manchester won 7-6 on penalties, with Victor Lindelof scoring the decisive goal for his side following Solly March’s penalty miss. Reaching the FA Cup final is a major achievement for United, but the team’s manager Erik ten Hag doesn’t want them to lose focus of other important matches in the face of this triumph. "It's going to be a great final, but first we have other things to focus on. It's important to get into the Champions League next season… We've shown so often this season that we can do that. It shows the character and ambition of this team," said Ten Hag post-match. The 142nd edition of the FA Cup will take place on June 3 at the Wembley Stadium in London. United hasn’t won this tournament since 2016, when they defeated Crystal Palace, while Man City won their last title with a 6-0 thrashing of Watford in 2019.
