Max Verstappen Holds Off Carlos Sainz to Win Canadian Grand Prix

Max Verstappen is a clear favorite to win the World Championship, and he’s closer to reaching that goal with each new race. The Dutch Formula 1 driver continued his ride to the top at the Canadian Grand Prix, where he scored another dominant victory. Ferrari's Carlos Sainz was Verstappen’s biggest competition this time around, while Lewis Hamilton and George Russell took third and fourth spot for Mercedes. Verstappen extended his lead over Leclerc to 49 points after he failed to make an impressive showing and only took the fifth place at the Canadian Grand Prix. The final safety car allowed Sainz to pit and close up behind Verstappen, and he truly gave him a run for his money, but the Dutch eventually managed to come out victorious. “It was proper racing, proper pushing. I had my moments where I had a bit of oversteer, then I looked in the mirror and I saw Carlos having the same amount of moments! So it was really on the edge but that's good to see,” said Verstappen post-race. This victory comes shortly after he won the title at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, and it marks his sixth victory in nine races this season. It also happens to be Red Bull's sixth win in a row.
