Max Verstappen Kicks Off New Formula 1 Season with a Win in Bahrain

Another Formula 1 season kicked off this past week, and Max Verstappen started it the same way he finished the last. The two-time World Champion came back swinging and scored the first win of the season at the Bahrain Grand Prix on Sunday. Verstappen was on top of his game in Bahrain, and no one could stand in his way. He initially lapped at a pace beyond his rivals and then controlled the race, kicking off the season with an easy win and cementing his status as a front-runner for the third consecutive year. Verstappen credited Red Bull’s team for his latest victory, praising them for managing to build another quick race car that’s powerful enough to put him ahead of the competition. "It was a very, very good first stint where I made my gap. From there, it was all about looking after tires. You never know what's going to happen later in the race. We just wanted to make sure we have the right tires and in good condition as well,” said Verstappen post-race. Verstappen’s Red Bull teammate Sergio Pérez came in second, with around 12 seconds between them. It was also a huge day for the Formula 1 veteran Fernando Alonso, who was the star of the race after managing to take the podium after finishing third.
