Minkah Fitzpatrick Signs $73 Million Four-Year Deal with Pittsburgh Steelers

Minkah Fitzpatrick has proven himself as a valuable asset for the Pittsburgh Steelers since joining the team in 2019, and he’s not going anywhere anytime soon. He signed the four-year extension with his current team, reportedly worth $73.6 million. Fitzpatrick’s new extension is worth over $18.4 million per year, and it comes with $36 million guaranteed at signing. These numbers are quite record-breaking, making him the highest-paid safety in the NFL history. He broke the record held by Jamal Adams of the Seattle Seahawks, who used to hold the no. 1 spot with $17.5 million per season. Fitzpatrick also set a new record with his guaranteed total, surpassing the Denver Broncos’ Justin Simmons with $32.1 million guaranteed. Since Fitzpatrick’s contract includes the final year of Fitzpatrick's rookie deal, the Steelers’ general manager Omar Khan described it as a five-year contract in an official statement announcing his extension. "Minkah is one of the top safeties in the NFL and we are thrilled he will be in Pittsburgh through at least the next five years. When we traded for him, we knew he was going to be an integral part of our defense and we look forward to that continuing as we prepare for the upcoming season," said Khan.
