Nathan MacKinnon Leads Colorado Avalanche to Franchise Record 53rd Win

The Colorado Avalanche have been on fire since the beginning of the season, and their latest victory was the most memorable one yet. They easily defeated Los Angeles Kings on Wednesday thanks to Nathan MacKinnon’s hat trick, setting a franchise record with their 53rd win this season. Colorado defeated Los Angeles Kings 9-3, and MacKinnon was the biggest star of the game. He scored three goals, but also had great support from Nicolas Aube-Kubel, who scored twice in the dominant first period. Colorado’s latest win sets franchise records for most wins in a regular season and most home wins in a season (29). The Avalanche also moved two points ahead of Florida for the best record in the NHL, and the number of their wins will likely soar even higher as the season progresses. After their record-setting triumph, the coach Jared Bednar credited the fans for giving them the support they desperately needed after a few off games in Winnipeg and Edmonton. “The crowd was chanting before the anthem even started. You can feel that when you go on the bench as a coach, as a player, that they're into it and they were going to be energized… I think our guys feel that and that's why our record is so good at home,” said Bednar.
