New York Mets Sign $124.5 Million Super Deal with Marte, Canha, and Escobar

The New York Mets invited several amazing players to join their ranks, and they’re cashing out a fortune to get them on board. Starling Marte, Eduardo Escobar, and Mark Canha are all set to join the iconic baseball team, and the Mets reportedly paid a joint total of $124.5 million for their deals. Marte’s signing is the most important move for the Mets since he’s a 10-year veteran, who spent most of his career with the Pittsburgh Pirates before short stints with the Arizona Diamondbacks, Miami Marlins, and Oakland Athletics. It also doesn’t hurt Marte’s case that he’s a former All-Star and two-time Gold Glove winner. The Mets reportedly cashed out $78 million to sign him and the center fielder agreed to a four-year contract with one of the leading MLB teams. The Mets were really working overtime signing new players on Friday, and Marte isn’t the only one to get a guaranteed contract. Infielder Eduardo Escobar and outfielder Mark Canha also joined the team, but their deals aren’t as lucrative. Canha, who has been with Oakland Athletics since the beginning of his MLB career, agreed to a $26.5-million two-year contract. Escobar is heading to New York on a two-year contract, reportedly worth $20 million, after playing for the Chicago White Sox, Minnesota Twins, Arizona Diamondbacks, and Milwaukee Brewers.
