Neymar To Miss the Rest of the Season with PSG Duo to Injury

Neymar led Paris Saint-Germain to many memorable victories, but it will take a while before he does it again. The Brazilian striker is set to undergo surgery on his right ankle, and he’ll have to miss the rest of the season because he’ll need at least three months to recover. This announcement comes shortly after Neymar took a break from playing after sustaining an injury during the team's 4-3 win over Lille last month. In a statement announcing his surgery, PSG said that he had “several episodes of instability in his right ankle in recent years.” The team of medical experts recommended he should seek a ligament repair operation to avoid a major risk of recurrence. Neymar will undergo the surgery in Doha, Qatar, and it will take three to four months before he returns to training. Neymar’s track record was pretty good this season, with 13 goals and 11 assists in Ligue 1, and PSG coach Christophe Galtier said they’ll have to make major changes in face of his absence. "He is one of the top scorers and assist providers in Ligue 1, so he is a big loss. Without Neymar, we may have two midfielders and three attackers or three midfielders and two attackers. There are players who can get in behind from all sorts of different positions," Galtier told reporters.
