Nick Bosa Agrees to $170 Million Extension with San Francisco 49ers

Nick Bosa is one of the San Francisco 49ers’ shiniest stars, and his future with this team is looking bright! The 25-year-old agreed to sign a five-year extension worth $170 million with his current team, becoming the NFL's highest-paid defender in the process. According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Bosa will get $122.5 million guaranteed, and his new deal is quite historic. It comes with an annual average salary of $34 million, setting a new record for the biggest contract ever given to a non-quarterback, surpassing Aaron Donald’s three-year, $95 million with the Los Angeles Rams. The San Francisco 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan can’t wait to welcome Bosa on board, and he couldn’t imagine opening the season without him. “As it went through the weekend, I just kind of got it in my mind that we weren’t playing with him. If I had gone back and forth, I would have been miserable. I just decided we weren’t... It’s a hell of a bonus to get him here. We’re obviously really excited about it,” Shanahan told reporters on Wednesday. Bosa has been with the Niners ever since he was selected second overall in the 2019 NFL Draft. Before striking his new deal, he was entering the final year of his rookie contract, which would have him earning $17.8 million in 2023.
