Record-Breaking Olympian Allyson Felix Retiring at End of Season

Track and field athlete Allyson Felix has been plotting her retirement for quite some time, and she finally made things official. The most decorated woman in Olympic track and field history announced she’s planning to retire at the end of the season. Felix shared a touching post on social media, saying she has already given everything she has to running and that this is the first time she feels there’s nothing left to give. "I want to say goodbye and thank you to the sport and people who have helped shape me the only way I know how – with one last run. This season isn't about the time on the clock, it's simply about joy. If you see me on the track this year I hope to share a moment, a memory and my appreciation with you," wrote Felix. This statement echoes previous remarks that she made at the Olympics in Tokyo last summer. Felix mentioned she won’t be taking part in the 2024 Olympics in Paris because she’ll stop racing by that time, and said that she feels “at peace” with her decision. Felix certainly has nothing left to prove since she’s already the most decorated female track and field Olympian of all time. She won 11 Olympic medals, including seven golds, in addition to 13 World Championships titles.
