Ryan Reynolds & Rob McElhenney Among Investors Backing Alpine F1 Team

After thrusting the Welsh football club Wrexham AFC into a global spotlight, Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney are ready to take over another sport. Two actors are among the investors who backed the new Alpine Formula 1 deal worth €200 million. According to Alpine's parent company Renault Group, the group of investors has acquired a 24% stake in the team. Alpine Racing SAS, the company which manufactures F1 engines in France, is not part of the transaction, and it’s still entirely owned by Renault Group. In addition to Maximum Effort Investments led by Reynolds, Otro Capital, and RedBird Capital Partners are also involved in this deal. Laurent Rossi, CEO of Alpine, believes that this new deal is an important step to enhance their performance at all levels. “As international players with a strong track record in the sports industry, will bring their recognized expertise to boost our media and marketing strategy, essential to support our sporting performance over the long term,” said Rossi in a statement. Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney became prominent figures in the world of football after taking over the Welsh football club Wrexham AFC. They chronicled their journey in the Netflix docu-series "Welcome to Wrexham", and the team was promoted back to the Football League after a 15-year absence under their leadership.
