San Francisco Giants First MLB Team to Reach 100 Wins This Season

The San Francisco Giants have been full of surprises this season, and they’re not done wowing us just yet. They set a major milestone during a recent game against the Colorado Rockies, becoming the first MLB team to reach 100 wins this season. The Giants scored an easy win against the Rockies, defeating them 7-2 on Friday night. Kervin Castro was the one who secured the victory, after pitching two quick innings in relief of Alex Wood, allowing one hit and striking out two. The Giants’ manager Gabe Kapler was overjoyed to see the team reach 100 wins this season, and said this milestone is a big deal, especially since they’re not considered as obvious front-runners. "I think we also knew that we were a talented group and our veteran players set the tone. They said the goal was to win the division, it wasn’t to sneak into the playoffs and I think that goal remains to this day obviously,'' said Kapler after the game. This is the first time since 2003 that the Giants reached 100 wins, but that’s not the only thing that makes their latest victory so extraordinary. The current franchise record is set at 106 wins in a single season, and there’s a chance that San Francisco could break it since they have eight games remaining.
