Scottie Scheffler Scores First Major Victory at the 2022 Masters Tournament

Scottie Scheffler has been rising through the ranks of the golf world for quite some time, and it was just a matter of time before he won his first major. The current world no. 1 proved his domination once again by winning the 2022 Masters Tournament on Sunday. This year’s Masters received a lot of buzz because it marked Tiger Woods’ return to professional golf, but Scheffler finished the tournament as its shiniest star. He won by shooting a one-under round of 71, defeating Rory McIlroy by three strokes. The American golfer revealed he dealt with a lot of pressure going into the final round, saying he “cried like a baby” on Sunday morning because he was too stressed out. "I dreamed of having a chance to play in this golf tournament. I teared up the first time I got my invitation in the mail…. If you're going to choose a golf tournament to win, this would be the tournament I would want to win. You don't know how many chances you're going to get,” said Scheffler. This marks Scheffler’s fourth victory since the beginning of the 2022 PGA Tour season. He’s the first golfer since Arnold Palmer in 1960 to win this many events at the very start of the season, including the Masters.
