Serbia Beats Brazil to Defend Their Volleyball Women’s World Championship Title

Serbia came into the FIVB Volleyball Women's World Championship as a defending champion, and they took another gold medal home. Serbia women's national volleyball team defeated Brazil in straight sets, while Italy took bronze after beating the US. The FIVB Volleyball Women's World Championship took place in Apeldoorn, the Netherlands on Saturday. Serbia easily cruised past Brazil to win their second consecutive title, taking the podium after scoring a confident 26-24, 25-22, 25-17 win. The team’s captain Tijana Boskovic was named the MVP of the tournament for the second consecutive time. She praised the rest of the team for leading Serbia to another epic World Championship victory. “I’m speechless. These girls, this team, this energy… We did it without losing a single match. I’m so happy and so proud to be part of this team. I want to thank everyone that supported us these past three weeks, especially my family,” said Boskovic after the tournament. The 2022 FIVB Volleyball Women's World Championship took place between September 23 and October 15. Brazil finished second, while Italy walked away with bronze after defeating the reigning Olympic champions, the US. Italy’s Paola Egonu finished the tournament as the top scorer, ahead of Poland’s Magdalena Stysiak and Belgium’s Britt Herbots.
